Chris Cheyette BSc (Hons) MSc RD is a Senior NHS Dietitian at Kings College Hospital, London. He is widely published in academic journals on weight management and diabetes. He is also the co-founder of the award-winning Carbs & Cals range of books and apps.
Chris qualified as a dietitian in 2000, and has been a Diabetes Specialist Dietitian for the NHS since 2003, working with a wide range of patients with Type 1, Type 2 and gestational diabetes. He has worked tirelessly to educate the public on healthy eating and diabetes and make informational resources simple and accessible. He won the 2007 British Dietetic Association Elizabeth Washington Award for his DVD aimed at young people with diabetes.
In 2009, he founded Chello Publishing Limited with photographer and designer Yello Balolia, to publish their bestselling healthy eating guide Carbs & Cals. The range recently won the Quality in Care Award 2014 for Best Dietary Initiative, the Dame Barbara Clayton Award for Innovation and Excellence in 2011 and the New Product of the Year at the Complete Nutrition Awards 2012. Carbs & Cals has expanded to include apps, flashcards, posters and teaching materials; now in its 5th edition, it has remained the bestselling carbohydrate and calorie counting title on Amazon for four years running and has been published in the United States and Portugal, with plans for Italy and Germany in 2015. A new book in the series, 5:2 Diet Photos, aimed at providing an accessible guide to the popular new diet, is due for publication in January 2015.
Chris is a regular speaker and contributor in his role as a British Dietetic Association (BDA) media spokesperson, and was a committee member of its Dietitian’s Management Education Group. He regularly undertakes local and national presentations to health professionals, and has been quoted in the Daily Mail on dietary issues. Affable and authoritative in his delivery, Chris provides expertly tailored comment clearly and persuasively on diet, healthy living and diabetes treatment and management, particularly on making dietary calculations and considerations easier and more accessible.
